Lighting Designer, Hyejung Hazel Kang
BIOGRAPHY
Hyejung, born and raised in South Korea, pursued her passion for theater at Chung-Ang University in Seoul, majoring in directing, where her fascination with light and lighting design ignited her journey as a lighting designer. Working as a lighting assistant supervisor for two years at Namsan Art Center, a renowned historical theater in Seoul, she encountered professional theater teams that motivated her to pursue further studies abroad. Setting foot in the United States at Boston Logan Airport on August 5th, 2021, marked the beginning of her new chapter. At UMass, guided by life mentors and advisors, she honed her collaborative skills, supported theater teams, and delved beyond the realm of light. Now, she's expanding her horizons to architectural lighting, driven by her positive energy to become the person she envisions.
